Musing Monday - 3 Streams

playground-swing-530

A poem, a quote and a Scripture...

Those are some of the things I'm musing about involve those three streams of thought (see below). There are tough decisions that must be made this week and I believe a season of direction change for me (I hope to post that in greater detail later this week). In this all I am confident in Father God, His provision and His love. My turn to preach is a next Sunday (October 3) and believe or not, it's about...Rest.

So, as I learn to Rest in all He has for me and my family this week, I would like to ask some questions. I would love to hear your feedback.

Do any of these streams resonate with you?
Can you see the connection between them?
What does REST mean to you?

In Him,
Jay

Wishing

Quote me, but softly
For I would stroll
Through a park of zeal
Testing the playground
In a un-grownup manner
Wishing the freedom to
Swing with my eyes shut
And no hands
grasping at chains
My innocence laughing
as it once did

“God, who foresaw your tribulation, has specially armed you to go through it, not without pain but without stain” C.S. Lewis

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."
Deuteronomy 31:6

If we would but rest in our assurance of God's perfection, His promises and His dominion... what an awesome place to be. In spite of all the storms and struggles, He remains steadfast and sure.

Thank you Jay for the reminder to find rest in the Lord!

Praying with you as you face these changes in direction.

Hebrews 3 & 4 is a powerful teaching on rest. It is so important for us to understand this. Also the whole first part of Watchman Nee's "Sit, Walk, Stand" talks about sitting or resting in our place with Jesus.

I'm praying that as you study this out to preach it, God gives you a new revelation of rest in your own life. Bless you Jay!

A question I ask myself frequently is "What would I do if I weren't afraid?" and then I do it {mostly} ... resting in His provision.

May we be like Abraham who didn't waver through unbelieving, but trusted the God who made the promise was faithful. Praying that you find rest in the promise today, Jay (and I'll receive more of that too!).

Wonderful post. Thank you.
