What Do I Say Now?

Permanent-3 copy This post is a part of a weekly book discussion hosted by Jason Stasyszen of Connecting to Impact and Sarah Salter of Living Between the Lines. I encourage you to check out the other posts which can be found on their sites. The Book we are discussing is The Hole in Our Gospel by Richard Stearns.

This is a raw post…I wrote as I thought…

“Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Willing is not enough; we must do.” - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Words are not enough…I no longer think or imagine I can convince anyone to move or act. There is great need in the world but I believe there is still greater provision.

I have to believe that…I have to be part of that.

In this chapter the author makes this statement…

Poverty is a four letter word.

Many have answered the issues of poverty with indifference or contempt. Treating the plight of the poor it as if it was their own fault for the condition they find themselves in. In this way it is easy to close our ears to their cries for help, like turning a deaf ear to foul language.

Poverty is a four letter word.

So is…

Love

Care

Give

Sent

Make

Help

Need

…and Hope

I like those words…but I need them to be active in my life.

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.  - James 1:27

Blessings, Jay

Amen.

And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” - Romans 10:15

By God's provisioning and instruction by the Holy Spirit through Scripture, we are to be:

Light unto a darkened world
Salt
A defender and protector of those in need.

So...

BRING the Good news!
Don't just say it. Do it.
Don't just think it. Be it.
