I’m Just Like Kind David

Well, not really, but hear me out. Today at church on the bulletin was this Scripture…

God sets the lonely in families, he leads forth the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land. Psalm 68:6

The first part of the Scripture resonated with me for in a physical as well as spiritual sense; that is what God has done for me. This Christmas has been special, despite many financial issues we enjoyed a wondrous time together. His peace permeated the circumstances and we had so much to be thankful for…which brings me to David.

In 1 Chronicles 17:16 he starts this awesome prayer with a question.

“Then King David went in and sat before the LORD, and he said: "Who am I, O LORD God, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far?”

The reason (and the only reason) I’m like King David is because of this question and prayer. I once was a lost, lonely, and fearful little boy, who saw no hope for a happy future. The Father came and “set me” in a family…today I am surrounded by the love of my wife and kids. However, first He set me in His family…I am owned by a God whose love continues to amaze me. He has bought me far and promises more…who am I? I am His son and for that I am grateful…just like David.

Blessings, Jay

Definitely with you, Jay. There's no sense of entitlement, just gratitude that I am in His hands, protected, provided for, and loved. I am a son.

Thank you, Jay.

Out of all the characters in the Word, I relate to David more than any. He has brought me so far as well.
