Shepherd’s Heart

New Born Lamb

Christmas is a necessity.  There has to be at least one day of the year to remind us that we're here for something else besides ourselves.  ~Eric Sevareid

The Christmas season is here! As we prepare for all the festivities I pray that our hearts will remember the reason we celebrate…the birth of the Messiah. I’m going to share as much Christmas thoughts, poems, Bad Sheep comics as I possibly can…maybe throw in a give-away as well. Bless you all! – Jay

Shepherd’s Heart

It is a dark night, cold
with uncaring.

Offering no relief from
the smell of sheep.
Their breath, like one
with my own.

My soul, chilled as
the night that shrouds me.
Grows weary with the
weight of my watch.

Heralds fill the darkness
with light for my vision.
The tone of eternity awakes
the hope in me.

I am drawn by worship words
to the smallest of places.
My life desperately needing
the promise there.

The future is birthed with
humanity clothes.

A babe, naked and vulnerable.
A king, beating with a shepherd’s heart.

For some reason I had flashbacks to college and open mike nights at the local coffee shop. The lights low...a bare bulb playing the part of a spot light over a small riser doubling as a stage. Passion and emotion dripping from the voice as a young man attempts to put words to a feeling that transcends the common. As the last of the verse is spoken, a quiet hush feels the room followed by a roar of applause.

Ok...I think I'm babbling... What I'm trying to say is: I love it!
