Poetry Pilgrimage

“The LORD has appeared of old to me, saying: “ Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with loving kindness I have drawn you. Jeremiah 31:3

It is getting late here in the Cookingham house and I have been freelancing, playing some video games with boys and now going through some old poetry of mine. I’m listening to Divine Romance by Phil Wickham and trying to focus on this pilgrimage my heart is going on.

Yesterday I was a mess (on the inside), I ranted and raved as I drove home from work (yes, I was alone). After a while I heard a small still voice remind me of His love for me and my spirit became still as well. His pursuit of my heart is huge mystery to me and it reminded me of this poem. I hope you are blessed by reading it….there is more to come. Blessings, Jay

No Mere Mystery

Mind and spirit
Body and soul
Quieted and still
A deep worship flows
With the song of heaven
Devotion sounds
Echo across my
Own silence
I am known by
The One who knows
It is no mere mystery

My question is this….Do you feel like God is missing you so much that He’s tugging on your heart?

That's a hard one for me, Jay ... I know I'm continually tugging on His.

Your poem speaks well.

Good poem Jay. I feel almost like I am in this in between state. Almost but not quite. Make sense? I feel like I am missing God.

Makes perfect sense to me Bill...I feel very similar! I desire to go away and find a quiet spot to sit but that is a bit difficult when you have life to do. Thankfully, He knows us and desires to be with us...I don't understand why, but I'm glad He does.

It has seemed to be test after test this week. Circumstances want me to go one way, but He keeps calling me to trust. Sorry you're going through it, Jay, but I'm praying with you. He has great things in store... Great poem and post. Be blessed.

I hear that bro'...for me it's that same theme. Do I REALLY love Him...trust is not an issue when that is settled in our souls. Praying for you as well bro'

Thanks Bro'...I am grateful for that tug aren't you?

Yes. The only way I survive life is by knowing that somehow He loves me and misses me and keeps tugging at me, wooing me kindly, sometimes even using dreams b/c at that moment I'm not in a fussy state that's filled with foolish resistance. HALLELUJAH!!

Carjo....I love that response! HALLELUJAH!! indeed!
